He was a friend of the legendary Tattoo Peter(de Haan) from Amsterdam and knew Paul Rogers(from S&R.).
During that time tattoomachine builders were a rare species, and these guys exchanged ideas with eachother, therefor my Smart-Art machines are indirectly related to these people.
Jan was my teacher in building machines and tattooing, and the level I am at today is due to Jan's know how and effort to guide me into the mystery world of tattoo art..
And I am the proud owner of his complete collection of machines nowadays, they are in good hands and treated with love and respect.
Most of Jan's coil machines are AC machines, he always experimented heavely with AC and never really liked the DC machines, therefor made just a few DC's.
He also experimented alot with Rotary's, and he really loved them, so he made quite a few.(these Rotary's plus more coil machines will be shown coming week)
Jan never had the luxery of nice tools, except for a couple of screwdrivers and an old electric drill, but Jan has always been a master in making something out of nothing, it always amazed me how he made tattoo machines from scrap with the tools I just mentioned, so check out the machines for yourself (and yes they ALL still work).
Jan is now retired from any form of tattoo art, but still follows every step I take with great pride and interest.
